MENTOR, OH-STERIS Corporation has released the STERIS SYSTEM 1(R) with Enhanced Control (P6000) to acute care and alternate care facilities worldwide. The SYSTEM 1(R) with Enhanced Control utilizes the same low-temperature sterile processing technology in previous versions of the system but offers superior information management capabilities.
Primary benefits of the new system include increased staff efficiencies and improved quality assurance through the use of a dual-line digital display, a new printer assembly, and an optional bar code scanner. The dual-line digital display prompts the operator through the cycle, alerts the operator of canceled cycles, and provides a cycle countdown. Standardized, comprehensive, and permanent quality assurance records are created with the new printer assembly using impact-printing technology. An optional bar code scanner simplifies the process for inputting cycle-specific information such as operator ID, device ID, patient ID, physician ID, and procedure ID. The unit's current and future communication capabilities include real time diagnostics, comprehensive data entry, and internal/external information exchange through the Internet and e-commerce.
