Boston Med

Summer television leaves something to be desired. The networks at this time of the year turn to reality shows as they are generally cheaper to produce, and you really don't need a writing staff--something they found out during the writers strike of a couple of years ago.

Last night, our TV set was turned to ABC for our weekly dose of Wipeout. The next show was a new police drama, which was SO GOOD I can't even recall it's name. I was about to change the channel when the show, Boston Med, began..

Boston Med is a new eight-part documentary that chronicles the real-life drama of life, death and the toll they take on doctors, nurses and patients at three of Boston's top hospitals: Massachusetts General, Brigham and Women's, and Children's Hospital Boston. This documentary is done in conjunction with ABC News, and is actually a nice departure from other hospital soaps/dramas currently on.

Boston Med does give what appears to be an honest view of the role of residents, and how they really are learning on the job.

Did this new show capture my attention? Yes. Did it do so enough to make me tune in again? Yes. If any of you caught the first episode of Boston Med, I'd love to know your take on it.
