Recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists as an award-winning practitioner, she has served as an editorial manager, editor, and writer for newspapers, magazines, wire services and public information bureaus for more than 25 years. She is a graduate of the University of Southern California and is the author of several books on healthcare, forensic science and medico-legal issues.

Disgust Drives Pathogen Avoidance Behavior

Researchers Valerie Curtis, Mıcheal de Barra and Robert Aunger of the Hygiene Centre, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in London, say in a new paper published in Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society that the emotion of disgust plays an important role in helping to keep humans away from potentially harmful substances.
