According to the CDC, roughly one in every 25 hospitalized patients has at least one healthcare-associated infection (HAI).1 HAIs create significant health risks and cost the healthcare industry billions of dollars each year.  

In 2014, Jersey Shore University Medical Center (JSUMC), which is a part of Hackensack Meridian Health, was experiencing an increase in Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI) and Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABSI) in its Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU).
