Pharmacy OneSource Announces Webinar on Infection Prevention in Critical Access Hospitals

Wolters Kluwer Health announces that Pharmacy OneSource is hosting a complimentary webinar on "Right-Sizing HAI Prevention Measures for Critical Access Hospitals." The webinar will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. EST.

Critical access hospitals are rural acute-care hospitals consisting of no more than 15 acute care beds and 10 swing beds if desired. Some of these facilities also have long term care facilities associated with them. These limited service hospitals and long term care centers play a critical role in providing healthcare services in rural and frontier communities. Resources for infection prevention and control are very limited in these settings. It is often times difficult to implement evidence-based national recommendations for prevention, control and surveillance activities due to lack of infection prevention expertise and resources.

The presenter is Bonnie Barnard, MPH, CIC, the healthcare-associated infection prevention initiative coordinator for the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services and a consultant in infection prevention and control. She has worked in this field for more than 25 years and has been certified in infection control by the Certification Board of Infection Control since 1984.
