Alcavis HDC Announces Bleach Wipe in a New Smaller Size

Alcavis HDC, manufacturer of the Bleach-Wipes, 1:100 and 1:10 dilutions, announce the Alcavis Bleach Wipe 1:10 dilution in a new smaller size. This Alcavis Bleach Wipe is a 2-inch by 2-inch folded size towel which is ideal for everyday disinfection of smaller medical equipment between patient uses. The wipes are individually packaged and unfold to 8 inches by 5 inches.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends frequent disinfection of shared patient equipment such as glucometers, stethoscopes, telephones, blood pressure monitors and other mobile devices. The packaging provides a shelf-life of 12 months, and ensures the correct dilution on for hard surfaces; avoiding premature degradation or insufficient strength issues that on-site dilution may cause. This Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered product is bactericidal, virucidal and tuberculocidal, and meets the CDC recommendations and OSHA bloodborne pathogen standard at 5,000ppm sodium hypochlorite. A wipe format facilitates quick turn-over, ease of use and avoids minimizes headaches and allergy symptoms that harsh chemical aerosols may cause.

There continues to be a lot of discussion of environmental disinfection and failure to comply with evidence-based guidelines on disinfection and sterilization which can lead to numerous cases of illness in healthcare settings. "Clostridium difficile now rivals Methicillin-resistant MRSA as the most common organism to cause healthcare-associated infections in the United States." (ICHE Oct ober 2008) The Alcavis Bleach Wipe 1:10 dilution complies with the CDC and APIC guidelines as a C diff sporicidal agent. The CDC specifies concentrations of bleach required to disinfect countertops, floors, medical devices and patient-care equipment. Hypochlorite bleach at 5,000ppm concentration kills the pathogens of most concern to patient care areas.
