The Association for the Healthcare Environment (AHE) announces the appointment of two board members to serve as board members at large for the 2013-2015 term beginning Jan. 1, 2013. Robert Hodnik will continue his service for a second term and Gregory May was appointed to a first term.
Additionally, the AHE board approved a Nominating Committee recommendation to cancel the 2012 election to avoid an uncontested election and to form a task force to explore member thoughts and opinions related to member engagement and future action related to service on the AHE board of directors.
Hodnik is the director of facilities for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Health Plan in Pittsburg, Pa. Hodnik, a founding member of AHE, has been active in healthcare and environmental services for more than 30 years. He has served on numerous committees and task forces and as program faculty for EXCHANGE, AHEs Annual Conference and Healthcare Marketplace. Hodnik was the 2006 recipient of the Phoenix Award, AHEs highest honor.
May is the director of environmental services at the University of California San Diego Health System in San Diego. May has 35 years of diverse healthcare experience, including environmental services, environmental health and safety, emergency preparedness, planning and response, laundry and linen services, and contracting. May has been an AHE member since 2005. Currently he is an EXCHANGE 2012 program planning member and has served previously on the Environmental Sustainability Task Force.
