AVA Offers Webinar on Disinfection of Needleless Connectors

The Association for Vascular Access (AVA) is offering the Webinar, "Reducing Risk through Disinfection of Needleless Connectors: Compliance with National Patient Safety Goals," on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010 at 12 p.m. EDT and 12 p.m. PDT. The presenter is Nancy Moureau, BSN, RN, CRNI, CPUI, and the event is co-sponsored by AVA and Excelsior Medical.

Infection associated with central venous catheters is a serious condition. The Joint Commissions National Patient Safety Goals require hospitals to establish and follow a protocol to disinfect needleless connectors. This interactive Webinar will outline the issues with infection as they relate to central venous catheters, discuss compliance with relevant National Patient Safety Goals, and explain strategies for infection reduction through establishment of effective protocols for disinfection.
