EPA Accepts New Claims for a PDI Germicidal Wipe

Professional Disposables International, Inc. (PDI), a leading manufacturer of pre-moistened wipes for healthcare, recently received Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) acceptance to include three additional microorganisms to Super Sani-Cloth® Germicidal Disposable Wipe’s kill claims. In addition to killing 22 microorganisms including MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus [ATCC 33592]), tuberculosis (Mycobacterium bovis BCG [ATCC 35743]), VRE (Vancomycin Resistant Enterococcus faecalis [ATCC 51299]), and hepatitis C, the wipes now kill Acinetobacter baumannii [ATCC 19606], Campylobacter jejuni [ATCC 29428], and influenza A (H1N1) virus [ATCC VR-98] strain A/Malaya/302/54 – with a two minute overall label contact time.

“Super Sani-Cloth pre-moistened, quaternary alcohol-based solution wipes are suitable for a variety of hard, non-porous surfaces often found in healthcare settings,” says Jean Fleming, RN, MPM, CIC, an infection control education manager for PDI.  “The wipes are natural latex-free and have a diamond-embossed texture, making them thick, heavy and strong enough to remove bacteria from surfaces found in healthcare settings such as carts, counters, exam tables, computer keyboards, patient monitoring and sensitive diagnostic equipment without tearing.”

Super Sani-Cloth contains 55 percent alcohol and kills TB in one minute and RSV in two minutes; HBV, HCV, MRSA and VRE in two minutes and has been tested effective against a total of 25 microorganisms. Available in large (6 in. x 6.75 in.) and extra large (8 in. x 14 in.) wipe sizes, Super Sani-Cloth has a two-year shelf life and comes in 160-count and 65-count canisters with deep-well lids.  The large 50-count packets and extra-large individual packets conveniently fit into the Sani-Bracket®, a special wall and mobile equipment mounting system. Super Sani-Cloth is part of the Sani-Surface® family. For more information visit http://www.pdipdi.com/
