Time Running Out to Submit Nominations for HAI Watchdog Awards

Does your hospital have an outstanding HAI education and prevention program to address the serious concern of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs)? If so, be sure to submit an entry for the 2013 HAI WATCHDOG Awards. The submission process is simple, straight-forward and easy and you could be well on your way achieving national recognition.

There are only two weeks left for U.S. and Canadian hospitals to enter to be recognized HAI champions who are making a difference in reducing and preventing these serious infections. The third annual HAI WATCHDOG Awards program recognizes facilities for their work to reduce HAI rates through staff and patient education and the use of best practices in HAI prevention.

Any HAI prevention program implemented between Oct. 1, 2011 and Dec. 31, 2012 is eligible for entry. Kimberly-Clark will award a $1500 educational grant to one U.S. or Canadian-based facility in each of the following four categories:

Panel-Judged Awards:
 Infection Prevention Initiative (new!)
o        Surgery center
 Environmental Services Initiative (new!)
o        Any size facility
 Infection Prevention Initiative
o        Less than 300 bed facility
o        More than 300 bed facility
o        Health system wide
 Patient HAI Education Initiative
o        Any size facility

Clinicians Choice Award:
 Education and awareness programs with non-measurable results will be judged by online public voting by fellow healthcare professionals.
