Biofilms Could Help Battle Superbugs

Biofilms, the very thing can be so harmful, may become an unexpected asset to researchers trying to develop a vaccine against antibiotic-resistant organisms known as superbugs. A sticky substance produced by bacteria in these biofilms is being tested as a viable vaccine target; in animal studies, this complex sugar called PNAG has produced an immune response when assaulted by chemicals.
