The International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) is pleased to announce that Kimberly-Clark Health Care Corp. will be sponsoring the Associations lesson plans, beginning in January 2005.
Kimberly-Clark, a strong advocate and promoter of continuing education in healthcare, and long-time supporter of IAHCSMM, is a welcomed addition to the Associations educational tools.
We are thrilled to have Kimberly-Clark represented in this way and believe the companys commitment to healthcare education is an exceptional fit for IAHCSMMs own educational endeavors, said IAHCSMM president Sybil Williams.
Under the terms of the sponsorship, Kimberly-Clarks logo will be printed on the lesson plans, which are published six times a year and sent to more than 9,000 readers. Lesson plans are published on Purdue University's Web site (www.http://www.cll.purdue.edu/index.cfm), as well as in IAHCSMMs bi-monthly newsletter Communiqué.
Sandy Buhler, manager of professional relations for Kimberly-Clark Health Care, believes the sponsorship is a logical step toward further building the companys educational platform and further contributing to professional growth and excellence in the realm of sterile processing.
Kimberly-Clark and IAHCSMM share common goals in regard to education. Our company has long recognized the value of sterile processing professionals and the importance of educating these individuals so they can continue to grow and excel in the profession, Buhler said. We applaud IAHCSMMs commitment to education and are pleased to be able to show our support of the Association and the profession by having our logo represented on the lesson plans.
Kimberly-Clark plans to do more than just lend its logo to IAHCSMMs lesson plans, however. According to Buhler, the company is aiming to utilize these lesson plans to expand educational offerings to its customers and IAHCSMMs certified members.
Specifically, Kimberly-Clark will distribute the lesson plans to its sales force so they can use them to further educate CS personnel during departmental visits.
These lesson plans are a terrific tool and are of real value, Buhler noted. Distributing them to our sales team is just one more way we can benefit our customers.
Kimberly-Clark Health Care is no stranger to healthcare association sponsorship and affiliation. The company has long been a staple at IAHCSMMs annual educational conferences, sponsoring numerous social events and sessions. Kimberly-Clark has also teamed up with the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN), co-hosting the conference on infectious diseases for the past nine years. In 2004, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) became a co-sponsor of the conference with AORN and Kimberly-Clark. For eight years, Kimberly-Clark has also underwritten an educational grant to the Georgetown University Healthcare Leadership Institute a week-long business course taught by the Georgetown University School of Business for high-level healthcare managers to hone their leadership and decision-making skills.
For 15 years, Kimberly-Clark has also provided its Excellence in Sterile Processing Series speaker presentations educational sessions facilitated by KC representatives that address a broad range of pertinent CS-related topics. While the company is proud of its ESP program, Buhler said Kimberly-Clark was looking to further branch out in the realm of sterile processing education.
Sponsoring IAHCSMMs lesson plans has provided us with a terrific opportunity to become even more involved, explained Buhler.
