In an effort to eliminate the spread of healthcare-acquired infections (HAIs), Professional Disposables International, Inc. (PDI), s leader in wet wipe infection prevention, is partnering with children’s hospitals to educate young patients on hand hygiene.

“Story Time with Cora™ and Cory™” combines storytelling, “hands-on” activities and special appearances by costumed characters to instruct and motivate children to improve their hand hygiene. PDI recently launched “Story Time with Cora and Cory” at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) in connection with Flu Prevention Day, as proclaimed by Mark Mallory, the mayor of Cincinnati.

The “Story Time with Cora and Cory” program, presented by a clinical professional, includes a lesson on hand sanitizing as a way to help prevent illnesses. Cora and Cory, mascots for the Sani-Hands® for Kids Antimicrobial Alcohol Gel Hand Wipes and featured characters in the new book, “The Adventures of Cora and Cory: The Germ-o-tron,” were also present to help the children use a special germ light on their own hands to show the before and after effects of using the hand wipes. Sani-Hands for Kids are pre-moistened and clinically proven to kill 99.99 percent of pathogenic organisms, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

“Proper hand hygiene is the proven first line of defense against the spread of colds and flu, yet most people – particularly children – do not do it effectively,” says Lisa Hall, operations coordinator at Cincinnati Children’s HospitalMedicalCenter. “We appreciate PDI’s help in showing our young patients how to clean their hands better and making the lesson so much fun.”

“Story Time with Cora and Cora” is the latest addition to PDI’s comprehensive educational offerings, which also include: product-focused education and support materials and in-service training programs, programs for facility implementation, clinical education programs and training, Web site resource center, medical science liaisons, continuing education credits, and customer advisory board and customer Webinars.

For more than 30 years, PDI has pioneered the development, testing, manufacturing and marketing of pre-moistened wipes as the optimum delivery system for skin antisepsis, hand hygiene, patient and surface care. With brands including Sani-Cloth®, Sani-Hands® ALC, Sani-Hands® for Kids, Hygea® and Chlorascrub™, PDI serves the healthcare market through hospitals, physician and dental offices, emergency medical services, long-term care, schools and a variety of other healthcare facilities.
