Silver Coated Catheters May Reduce Infection

A study, recently reported from the University of Michigan, says infections could be reduced if a more expensive, silver-coated catheter is used. The catheters are covered with a thin layer of silver alloy, which can kill bacteria. According to the researchers, the use of the silver-coated catheters would increase initial costs by $5 a catheter. For more information visit www.med.umich.edu.
