The Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) has announced that Annette Pummel, RN, CMRP, chief operating officer at American Contract Systems in Atchison, Kan., is the chair-elect of the 2012 board of directors. The AHRMM membership newly elected four board members: healthcare provider representatives Florence Doyle and Stephanie Hunt, CMRP; GPO/consultant/supplier/distributor representative Karen Conway; and military representative Jerry VanVactor, DHA, CMRP, FAHRMM.
Annette Pummel brings more than 30 years of healthcare experience to the chair-elect position. Pummel has been a member of AHRMM for more than 10 years and currently serves as the Region 6 National Board Representative. Pummels service with AHRMM includes: instructor for AHA CMRP preparation courses, national conference presentations on non-labor cost reduction, and various chapter meeting presentations. Her areas of expertise and professional skills include leadership, strategic program development, relationship management, and project management. In her capacity as AHRMM chair-elect, Pummels responsibilities include serving on both the AHRMM executive and nominating committees, developing the association's strategic plan and budget and, in the absence of the president, assuming the duties of that office.
Healthcare provider representatives Florence Doyle and Stephanie Hunt are responsible for advocating for their constituents by conveying provider issues to the AHRMM board as well as carrying out AHRMMs mission. Doyle, vice president of supply chain management at Catholic Health East, Newtown Square, Pa., brings over 35 years of experience in the resource and materials management field and 12 years of AHRMM membership experience to the board. Hunt, director of materials management at Lake Health, Concord, Ohio, brings over 23 years of experience in the resource and materials management field and eight years of AHRMM membership experience to the board.
As GPO/consultant/supplier/distributor representative, Karen Conway, industry relations director for GHX, Louisville, Colo., is responsible for advocating for non-provider issues to the board as well as carrying out AHRMMs mission. Conway brings more than 11 years of experience in the resource and materials management field and eight years of AHRMM membership experience to the board.
Military representative Jerry VanVactor, healthcare logistics manager for the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps, Fort Wainwright, Alaska, is responsible for advocating for military issues to the board as well as carrying out AHRMMs mission. VanVactor brings over 17 years of experience in the resource and materials management field and nine years of AHRMM membership experience to the board.

The new board representatives will begin their terms on Jan. 1, 2012. AHRMM elections are held each year via the association's website. AHRMM posts each candidates biographical information and platform so every member can make an informed decision when voting.
