Healthmark Industries Company, Inc. of Fraser, Mich. announces the hiring of microbiologist Natalie Whitfield, PhD, to join the company’s business development division for validation tests.
Whitfield earned her doctorate degree in cellular and molecular biology with a focus in microbiology and immunology from the University of Michigan. She brings years of experience in the study and application of microbiology to solve practical problems. Most recently she has served as the senior research technician, designing research projects at the University of Michigan Cancer Center. She is also a contributing adjunct professor of microbiology at Washtenaw Community College.
“Dr. Whitfield has joined Healthmark to help us develop and implement our marketing plan focused on medical device manufacturers and independent testing labs,” says Ralph Basile, vice president of marketing. “With her expertise, we believe Healthmark will be better able to help these firms meet the ever changing regulatory environment for instrument reprocessing validation.”
“Dr. Whitfield will focus her efforts on our Proformance line of products, including the marketing of ATS simulated-use soil and the TOSI surrogate test device,” says Stephen Kovach, director of education.
Whitfield says she sees her role as relating Healthmark’s Proformance products as science-based solutions for medical device manufacturers with one or both of the following applications: internal testing and validation of medical device manufacturer’s cleaning instructions for reprocessing; and recommendation for use by their customers, to ensure proper implementation of cleaning instructions by the end-user.
