Today in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)’s Safe Healthcare Blog, Anthony Chow, MD, discusses key changes in sinus infection guidelines released by the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA).

The new guidelines give clinicians specific characteristics to look for when distinguishing between viral and bacterial infections. Importantly, the guidelines advise against the current standard of care for antibiotic choice and provide alternatives better suited to today’s antibiotic environment.
