The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) will offer a webinar, "Are You Taking Shortcuts When Reprocessing Reusable Medical Devices?" on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. ET. The event will offer 1.5 contact hours from CBSPD and IAHCSMM.

The inadequate cleaning and sterilization of reusable medical devices has become headline news. This is because shortcuts are being taken in reprocessing reusable medical devices due to surgeon demands and lack of resources such as instruments, equipment, tools, and time. All of these affect the ability of the facility to follow medical device manufacturer’s instructions for use and recommended practices. This webinar will discuss the risk of taking these shortcuts and ideas on how to avoid those risks.

Instruction is targeted to any department in hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers or clinics that produce sterile products for their patients. After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:
1. Discuss the risks associated with failure to follow medical device manufacturer’s instructions for use and recommended practices.
2. Discuss how to put teeth into your loaner instrument policy and procedure.
3. Discuss reduction of the use of immediate-use steam sterilization.

CBSPD and IAHCSMM are offering 1.5 contact hours for this webinar; contact Jeanine Beisel at jbeisel@aami.org to obtain a letter of attendance needed to receive the contact hours.

The cost is $79 per registration for AAMI members and $99 per registration for non-members. Call 1-800-373-3174 to register with your credit card or register online HERE.
