ECRI Institute, a nonprofit organization that researches the best approaches to improving patient care, presents “Stryker Neptune Waste Management System Recall: What Now?” a live web conference on April 17, 2013, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. ET.
The Stryker Neptune Waste Management System product line is designed to eliminate the manual handling of liquid waste using a closed system to suction and collect liquids during surgical procedures and a proprietary docking station to automatically empty the liquid waste at the end of a procedure. Prompted by patient injuries and at least two deaths due to inappropriately applying high-flow, high-suction vacuums to passive chest drains, Stryker notified all users that the Neptune 1 Silver and Neptune 2 Ultra liquid waste management systems have been recalled.
At the April 17, 2013, web conference, presenters from ECRI Institute will address how to properly implement the Stryker Neptune Waste Management System recall. The objectives of this webinar are to help participants:
- Understand the important facts about the Stryker Neptune Waste Management System recall
- Identify the key steps to take before deciding how and when to replace the Stryker units
- Recognize the guidelines on selecting replacement devices
The interactive format of these web conferences provides ample time to interact with the panel through an extended Q&A session. The web conference format encourages team participation.
