Montefiore Medical Center has reduced carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) patient colonization in all of its ICUs by 53 percent and patient-to-patient transmission has been virtually eliminated using a highly successful patient safety intervention based on CDC’s infection prevention guidelines to reduce CRE.
Montefiore’s intervention was designed to be replicated at other acute-care hospitals. Learn more about their efforts to protect patients from the threat of CRE and other multidrug-resistant bacteria. Join the conversation on CDC’s Safe Healthcare Blog at http://blogs.cdc.gov/safehealthcare/
