Medical equipment planning requires much more than just equipment lists, specifications, and CAD room layouts. Successful healthcare design and construction projects involve the perfect combination of appropriate medical technology consistent with an organization’s strategic vision, technology trends, operational requirements, and patient and staff safety – all while maintaining project budgets. That complex recipe requires effective planning and timely guidance to address those needs.

Healthcare facilities that are designing new patient care areas to accommodate current and future technologies need guidance on budgeting and space constraints, unwieldy construction costs, and rapidly evolving devices and equipment. They are asking ECRI Institute for an optimal plan for design success.

To educate healthcare facilities about the challenges faced when designing a new patient care space, ECRI Institute is presenting an educational web conference, “Unlocking the Secrets to Successful Medical Equipment Planning,” on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., ET.

The objectives of this webinar are to help participants:
Understand patient and staff safety considerations that come with medical equipment planning
Recognize what to expect when planning and designing patient care areas
Realize costs associated with a medical equipment planning project and OR integration
Comprehend what building information modeling (BIM) is and how it can promote better collaboration

Speakers are:
- Michael Linehan, director of medical equipment planning for ECRI Institute
- Jeffrey O’Neill, AIA, ACHA, director of engineering services at Pennsylvania Hospital, in the University of Pennsylvania Health System

The moderator will be Erin Sparnon, engineering manager for health devices at ECRI Institute.

This webinar is intended for clinical engineering managers and directors, clinical engineers, biomedical equipment technicians, health technology management teams, risk managers, facility managers, and other healthcare professionals. The interactive format of ECRI Institute’s webinar will provide ample time to interact with the panel during the Q&A session and also encourages participation.

Members of ECRI Institute’s Health Devices System™, Health Devices Gold™, and SELECTPlus™ programs will receive this webinar at no cost as part of their membership with advance registration. Non-members can register for $249.
