New CDC Video Addresses Infection Prevention and Control of Ebola Virus Disease in U.S. Hospitals

The Ebola virus disease outbreak in West Africa has increased the possibility of patients traveling from the affected countries to the United States. In the CDC Expert Commentary series on Medscape, Dr. David Kuhar, healthcare infection control team lead for the CDC Ebola Response, reiterates what healthcare facilities can do to prepare for a patient with Ebola virus disease and the infection control procedures that need to be in place in U.S. hospitals.

Any U.S. hospital that is following CDC's infection control recommendations and can isolate a patient in a single patient room‎ with private bathroom is capable of safely managing a patient with Ebola virus disease. As this outbreak continues to evolve, visit the CDC Ebola website for regular updates and additional resources for U.S. healthcare facilities.
