New Human Body Temperature Monitoring System From Land Instruments International Used to Help Detect SARS

NEWTOWN, Pa. -- Following the need to restrict the spread of the SARS virus, Land Instruments International -- one of the world's leading specialists in infrared temperature measurement and thermal imaging -- has responded by producing a Human Body Temperature Monitoring System based around two new miniature, online thermal imaging camera systems: the FTI Mini and FTI Mv.

Human Body Temperature Measuring is being employed to assist in preventing the spread of the SARS virus by allowing for quick, accurate detection of elevated body temperature. China, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore are among the countries already using thermal imaging equipment in the fight against the spread of this highly contagious virus. Land Instruments International is currently addressing interest from other countries including Canada, France, Malaysia, Morocco and the United Arab Emirates.

Use of thermal imaging equipment to detect elevated body temperature can easily be installed and implemented in environments such as airports, hospitals, clinics, office buildings, cruise ships, etc.

The FTI Mini and FTI Mv use the latest uncooled Microbolometer detector technology with a unique combination of high performance, ruggedness, small size and affordable price. The camera systems are complemented by the Human Body Temperature Monitoring software system, the latest of Land's successful range of thermal image processing software. The system has the added benefit of using a certified temperature calibration source to provide a level of accuracy unparalleled by existing thermal imaging equipment.
