iKey Medical Keyboard Compatibility with STERRAD System Announced

iKey, a leading manufacturer of medical-grade keyboards and mice, announces compatibility of the DW-860 keyboard with the STERRAD® 100NX Sterilization System. An industry first, the DW-860 is the only keyboard on the market that is endorsed to be fully compatible with this sterilization method.

Manufactured by Advanced Sterilization Products (ASP), the STERRAD® 100NX utilizes low temperature hydrogen peroxide gas plasma sterilization to provide a rapid disinfection method for medical instruments.

iKeys DW-860 wireless medical keyboard was tested for compatibility and efficacy with the STERRAD® 100NX system in accordance with AAMI/ISO standards. After 100 47-minute cycles, the keyboard passed functionality testing and was declared fully compatible with the sterilization method.

iKey is excited by the compatibility of the DW-860 keyboard with the STERRAD® 100NX system because it gives our customers an additional sterilization method not available with other products, says Kacee Pals, iKey sales manager. For a medical keyboard to truly reduce cross-contamination, certain infection control protocols must be followed after use. We are glad to offer our customers multiple cleaning methods so that they can choose the most convenient solution for their workplace.

Each year, hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) kill 48,000 people and cost an estimated $8.1 billion, according to a recent study by Resources for the Future. The study suggests that many of these deaths may have been avoided with better infection control protocols.

Designed to combat cross-contamination in hospital, laboratory and dental settings, iKeys medical keyboards are fully sealed to be resistant to disinfectants, other fluids and debris.

The STERRAD® 100NX-compatible DW-860 is an RF-wireless keyboard with an integrated HulaPoint II pointing device. Sealed to NEMA 4X requirements, the DW-860 provides a complete data input solution for medical environments.
