Key Surgical Online Education Program Focuses on Instrument Cleaning and Care Processes

Key Surgical, Inc. now offers an online education program designed for technicians and personnel who work in the field of sterile processing. The program is comprised of virtual learning labs that focus on topics such as surgical instrument care and cleaning, loaner instrumentation management, and endoscopic reprocessing. The program is free and serves up a learning experience that is simple, fun and interactive. Each lab is followed by an interactive quiz which allows the participant to answer questions based on the information learned.

“Key Surgical not only provides its customers with high quality products to use every day in sterile processing and the OR but the company is also a catalyst for education and patient safety,” says Lindsay Brown, CCSVP, Key Surgical. “Sharing knowledge is a beautiful thing and being able to create a relationship with our customers based on education and shared knowledge puts us all in a better position to create an atmosphere where positive patient outcomes are the norm- not the exception.”

The Key Surgical education program is designed to allow the user to choose the material most timely and relevant to them. “We understand the time constraints that our customers  face,” says Alana Suomela, marketing and communications manager. “So it was important that we set these up for people to learn in a digital classroom atmosphere, make them conveniently available 24/7 and accessible on a desktop, tablet or mobile device.”

The material is accredited by both the International Association of Central Service Healthcare Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) and the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. (CBSPD) for one continuing education credit (CEU). With these accreditations, the Key Surgical educational program can be used by certified sterile processing professionals to fulfill the CEU requirements to maintain their certification.
