Connie Steed, RN, MSN, CIC, is director of infection prevention at Greenville Hospital System/University Medical Center in Greenville, S.C. and has an extensive background in infection prevention, epidemiology, employee health and education. She is widely published in journals such as Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology and in many nursing journals, and has presented more than 150 invited lectures since 1990 -- including national APIC meetings as well as speaking at the second annual Infection Control Today Conference on Professional Development in 2008. She is the winner of numerous awards, including being named the 2007 Infection Control Professional of the Year by the APIC-Palmetto chapter. She is actively involved in healthcare-related associations, serves as an industry consultant, and teaches infection prevention and control-related seminars.
