CAUTI Prevention through Technology by Addressing the Root Causes
The US Healthcare System is an industry in transition. A number of factors have served to increase the burden on acute care facilities, commanding a higher degree of attention to clinical efficacy and cost benefit as it relates to the adoption and utilization of medical technologies. To meet the Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI) NPSG under the accreditation program, hospitals and critical access hospitals were required to plan for full implementation by January 1, 2013. These plans included assigning responsibility for implementation activities, creating timeliness, identifying resources, and conducting pilot testing.
