October 19, 2000

WESTPORT, CT - A recent report from The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia announced that an adhesive device secures intravenous catheters as well as sutures and better than tape. In addition, the adhesive resulted in fewer catheter-related infections.

The study was conducted by Dr. Schears and colleagues in three prospective randomized trials comparing StatLock catheter securement device with sterile threaded tape and sutures in pediatric and adult patients of similar age and gender, and with similar catheter placements.
