WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Archived proceedings from the recent consensus conference on mandatory reporting of healthcare-associated infections are now accessible via a live Webcast feature at www.apic.org and include a real-time online polling feature so that visitors may vote on issues related to this important topic.
The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) convened this conference Feb. 7- 8, 2005, where some 400 participants gathered to determine the best approach for providing consumers with reliable, useable and comparable infection rate information. Attendees included experts in infection prevention and control, representatives from state government agencies, public health, and consumer groups.
Tyco/Healthcare/Kendall is sponsoring this archived Webcast.
APIC and Tyco/Healthcare/Kendall have partnered in making this Webcast
available to all who might be interested. Sharing the insights of conference presenters beyond those who initially attended is part of APICs ongoing outreach effort, said Denise Graham, AOICs director of government affairs. In addition, the real time online polling feature allows viewers to respond to similar questions posed before the Atlanta attendees.
Joining APIC in presenting this conference were the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the American Hospital Association, Consumers Union, National Quality Forum, and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America.
