APIC Announces New Senior Director of Education and Research

WASHINGTON, D.C. The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) announces the addition of Lois J. Book,
EdD, MS, BSN, RN, to the associations staff. She joins APIC as senior director of education and research.

Book joins APIC following seven years with the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) in
Chicago
, where she led key educational and professional relations initiatives. During her tenure at AADE, Book designed and managed educational programs and services, such as the revision of the core curriculum, the AADE textbook of the field of diabetes education, e-learning, and advanced credential development; served as CE administrator; developed research conferences; and secured funding for both education and research.

Prior to joining AADE, Book served in multiple hospitals in
Illinois
as director of nursing education and director of organizational development. Book began her career as

an instructor of surgical nursing at the St. Francis Medical Center School of Nursing in
Peoria, Ill. Book received her bachelors of nursing from the
University of
Iowa
, her masters in education from
Bradley University, and her doctorate in adult education/continuing professional education, from
Northern Illinois University.

The wealth of experience that Dr. Book brings to APIC is the perfect combination of education and research program development.
