ATLANTA -- Your humidifier may be making you sick. Now there is a simple and safe solution, called HumidiSafe which controls mold and maintains a clean and bacteria-free home humidifier.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Consumer Product Safety Commission stated that breathing this dirty mist might cause lung problems. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)has identified several cases of infant death that resulted from inhalation of certain types of bacteria or molds, which may be present in room humidifiers.
"People think cleaning is enough to control bacteria growth in the water and mist. However, airborne bacteria drawn into the humidifier and bacteria found in tap and bottled water automatically introduce a new population of bacteria growth," explained Bryan Kepner, president of K2 Concepts, Inc. "Studies have proven that bacteria and mold growth in humidifiers can occur within hours after cleaning, and the only way to control it is to treat the water."
K2 Concepts, Inc. invented the solution in a battery-sized capsule containing the patented and proven antimicrobial material MB-2000. "This non-toxic all-natural material has been used in the Food and Beverage industry for years to control the growth of bacteria in drinking water storage tanks," explained Kepner. "This technology is now used to control bacteria and mold within residential humidifiers. The capsule is dropped into the humidifier water tank prior to filling and is left in during normal operation to control bacteria and mold growth within the water and mist."
The HumidiSafe capsule, registered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is non-toxic, safe, and effective over a wide range of microorganisms. It uses all-natural antimicrobial minerals and no chlorine additives. It fits all standard humidifier and vaporizer models, and produces no odor or residual on furniture. Replacement of the capsule is recommended every 30 days.
"Unlike those hazardous harsh liquid chemicals that some companies recommend, with HumidiSafe I don't need to worry about someone's child coming in contact with noxious fumes or chemicals. My customers also appreciate how easy it is to use, just drop a capsule in the tank and forget about it," explained Corey May, RPh and manager of King's Pharmacy in Atlanta, Ga.
