TONAWANDA, N.Y. -- FailSafe Air Safety Systems Corp
(FailSafe), a leading innovator of mobile airborne hazard control technology
and products, announced today the official expansion of its unique, patented
technology and product line that captures, contains and neutralizes
biohazards. Through its partnership with Design Shelter, Inc., FailSafe
offers an unmatched Portable Isolation Containment System (PIC System) that
uniquely combines patented medical isolation and air handling technology with
a high quality flexible shelter to meet the emergency surge capacity and
isolation requirements of government agencies and healthcare institutions.
Earlier this month, the commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public
Health (DPH), Center for Emergency Preparedness selected the FailSafe PIC
System as part of its program to enable DPH to rapidly deploy portable
isolation units to healthcare facilities across the Commonwealth. FailSafe's
PIC System was selected over products from five competing vendors.
The PIC System, which is currently on display at the 14th World
Conference on Disaster Management in Toronto, Ontario, consists of an all
weather shelter plus an integrated filtration, heating and AC unit (PICS HVAC)
that allows for the isolation and care of multiple patients in a negative-
pressure environment with HEPA-filtered exhaust and controlled environmental
air. The FailSafe PIC System conforms to CDC precautionary guidelines for
isolation and AIA recommendations for Airborne Infectious Isolation (AII).
FailSafe CEO Paul Chirayath stated, "For several years, U.S. healthcare
institutions have utilized FailSafe's FDA cleared mobile systems to aid in
infection control. We are pleased to continue to provide the world's disaster
management and hospital preparedness communities with high-quality, turnkey
solution for surge capacity and portable isolation."
FailSafe Air Safety Systems Corp (FASS) is a leading innovator of mobile
airborne hazard control technology and products. The FailSafe technology
offers a highly efficient approach to destroying hazardous biological
particles, whether airborne or surface resident. FASS units meet all current
CDC, NIOSH and OSHA recommended response guidelines for airborne infection.
Founded in 1993, Design Shelter, Inc. has significant experience in
providing turnkey portable base camps to teams of professionals required to
work and live in the field for days, weeks or months at a time. This includes
