SteadMed® Medical, LLC, a healthcare company providing medical devices and products to hospitals, wound care centers, nursing homes and home health agencies, announces that four of its poster abstracts were accepted for review at the Symposium for Advanced Wound Care held April 14-16 in Grapevine, Texas. One abstract, titled "Drawtex®: The Effect of Accelerated Exudate Removal on the Bioburden of Venous Leg Ulcers," won first place.
The poster, authored by Randall Wolcott, MD, of the Southwest Regional Wound Care Center and Scot Dowd, PhD, was the highest scoring abstract in the clinical research category. The competition was judged by the North American Center for Continuing Medical Education, LLC (NACCME).
"Close to 300 abstracts were accepted as posters for the SAWC based on a blind, peer-review by judges who are experts in the field," explains Tiffney D. Oliver, director of educational services for NACCME. "Of those, 52 were designated as clinical research. All abstracts were reviewed based on specific criteria for the category in which they were placed."
The three other poster abstracts accepted for review were:
- Detoxification of Venous Ulcers with a Novel Hydroconductive Wound Dressing That Transfers Chronic Wound Fluid Away From the Wound Phillip Lichtenstein, Martin Wendelken, DPM, RN and Oscar M. Alvarez, PhD
