IrriMax® Corporation announces today it has been awarded a supplier contract with the Premier healthcare alliance, effective Feb. 1, 2012, for its IrriSept® wound debridement and cleansing system. The IrriSept system is the first and only FDA-cleared irrigation device containing chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG), providing an alternative to traditional saline irrigation. IrriSept is packaged and available for use in surgical and non-surgical environments.
We are very pleased to be associated with an organization like Premier, particularly given its emphasis on patient safety, says Gareth Clarke, CEO of IrriMax Corp. IrriSept offers Premier members the only irrigation system containing a 0.05 percent concentration of CHG, shown effective in laboratory testing against a variety of bacteria and fungi, including Staph and MRSA. (1-2) IrriSept is designed for use on all wounds, and examples include surgical wounds (as a final rinse before closure), skin and soft tissue infections, abscesses, deep traumatic wounds, lacerations and puncture wounds. Our goals are to improve patient outcomes by helping resolve and/or prevent infections, and to increase the safety of healthcare professionals.
