Florida Vets May Have Been Exposed to Hepatitis and HIV From Contaminated Scopes

CNN is reporting today that thousands of veterans in Florida may have been exposed to hepatitis and HIV due to contaminated scopes and other equipment after receiving colonoscopies at the Miami Veterans Affairs Healthcare System. The Miami Herald is reporting, “On Monday, the VA disclosed that water tubes and reservoirs used in colonoscopies and endoscopies were being rinsed between procedures, but not disinfected as required by manufacturer's specifications.
