Getinge Online Awarded Gold in 2012 Value Chain Awards

Article

Getinge Online has been honored with the Gold award in Connected World Magazines 2012 Value Chain Awards. The jury specifically pointed to how Getinge Online is transforming Getinge from an equipment provider to a full solution provider and service partner to its healthcare customers.

With Getinge Online we wanted to create something that would really be a game changer within the infection control business, says Anders Buch, strategic program manager at Getinge IT Solutions. And at the same time we wanted to push the limits of what can be done with web and mobile technologies. This award proves that we succeeded.

Getinge Online is a tool that enables users of Getinges reprocessing equipment to access information about the equipments status at any time and from anywhere. Instead of overviewing the sterilization or disinfection process manually and on the spot, medical staff and service technicians can now follow the process on their computers or even mobile devices wherever they are.

Thanks to instant notification when a machine has completed a process or otherwise needs attention, productivity can be maximized. Statistics shown graphically alongside data on the equipments performance also make it easier for any technical support staff to solve problems early and minimize downtime.

The true differentiator of Getinge Online is the unique Customer Portal, which was developed by Getinge IT Solutions at the companys development centers in Copenhagen, Denmark and Lviv, Ukraine. Since January 2011 the portal has been available to Getinges customers around the world, and is now in operation in the US, the UK, France, Italy, Norway, Denmark, Canada, Netherlands, Sweden, the Middle East and even in the Bahamas.

Getinge Online has been an invaluable tool for us and has proved to be very positive for our facility, says Carmen J. Ferriero, sterile processing manager at Albany Medical Center in New York. As a manager, Getinge Online has made my life easier, as I receive real-time information about an error by text, which then allows me to be responsive and to instruct my staff properly, even when I am not present. It has resulted in decreased equipment downtime.

The award was presented to Getinge at a gala dinner during the Annual Connected World Conference in St. Charles, Ill. on June 12.
