Kimberly-Clark Health Care will determine the fastest sterilization wrapper in the Smart-Fold Wrap Race Championships at the 2014 International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) Annual Conference and Expo, taking place May 4-7 in Columbus, Ohio. The championship rounds will be held on Tuesday, May 6 at 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. and will highlight the important role central service (CS) professionals play in preventing infection in the operating room. Also at IAHCSMM, Kimberly-Clark Health Care will host a CE-accredited educational program that addresses surgical packaging methodologies.
The Smart-Fold Wrap Race is a fun, fast-paced competition designed to test the wrapping skills and speed of CS professionals using Smart-Fold Sterilization Wrap. The first round of the races kicked off in October 2013, when more than 170 CS professionals from across the United States and Canada submitted videos of their fastest wrap times to the competition. After several rounds of competition throughout the year, the Championship Race will feature the final four participants to compete for the 2014 Smart-Fold Wrap Race crown.
Smart-Fold Sterilization Wrap is an innovative sterilization packaging designed to provide the durability necessary for the most demanding applications. With its triple-layer reinforcement, Smart-Fold is three times more tear-resistant than the leading sterilization wrap, to protect the heaviest procedure trays and loaner sets from tears and cuts-and save hospitals the time and cost of reprocessing.
Four finalists will be competing in the final rounds at IAHCSMM. These CS professionals out-wrapped their peers through two preliminary rounds of competition and will compete head-to-head at IAHCSMM. The Championship contenders are:
- Becky Allen, Methodist Hospital, Omaha, Neb.
- Naomi Campbell, Brandywine Hospital, Coatesville, Pa.
- Patricia Fuller, Saint Luke’s Northland, Kansas City, Mo.
- Nataliya Fried - Gillette Children's Hospital, St. Paul, Minn.
