Adoption of ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) technology to achieve superior surface disinfection in hospital rooms has grown dramatically in recent years. Hospitals are embracing this technology in products such as UVDIs V-360+ UV Room Sanitizer, designed to generate high intensity UV-C energy to quickly disinfect surfaces contaminated with viruses, bacteria and fungi. This technology has been proven effective against superbugs such as MRSA and C. difficile that cause serious illnesses and deaths.
The V-360+ UV Room Sanitizer is a portable device designed to safely and effectively disinfect surfaces in healthcare settings. Surfaces with direct UV-C light exposure are disinfected in just a few minutes, but surfaces that are shadowed can take longer.
Standard paint and wall coverings typically absorb a high percentage of the powerful UV-C energy and thus are poor reflectors of UV-C into shadowed areas. Recently, a patent pending highly reflective UV-C coating has been developed by Lumacept of Grand Forks, N.D. Named UVC-MAX, the coating has been designed to increase UV-C reflectance from surfaces for higher disinfection efficacy in shadowed areas. Testing has proven that UVC-MAX applied to walls and ceilings delivers an average of 1,400 percent more UV-C energy into shadowed areas compared to standard surface coatings. This breakthrough technology now allows shadowed areas to receive high level UV disinfection in times usually associated with line of sight UV treatment.
I am delighted that Lumacept has selected UVDI to distribute the UVC-MAX line of coatings, says Richard Hayes, president of UltraViolet Devices, Inc. (UVDI). Adding Lumacept coatings to UVDIs V-360+ UV Room Sanitizer and Dose Verify technology provides hospitals with a complete UV disinfection system. Our tests have proven that when Lumacept is applied, shadowed surfaces cant hide.
