Fox News is reporting today that thousands of veterans receiving dental services at the John Cochran Division of the St. Louis Veterans Affairs Medical Center could have been accidentally exposed to HIV and other viruses. According to a Veterans Affairs (VA) statement, the dental equipment used on patients was sterilized; however, it was “not sterilized to the exact specifications of the manufacturers guidelines.” Letters have been sent by the VA to more than 1,800 veterans who were patients at the facility from February 2009 to March 2010.
