ST. PAUL, Minn. -- 3M announces that it has acquired substantially all of the assets of Articulos de Papel DMS Chile, a Santiago, Chile-based manufacturer of disposable surgical packs, drapes, gowns and kits. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
This acquisition builds on 3Ms core medical business and expands its full line of disposable drapes for infection prevention in Latin America. Disposable packs, drapes, gowns and kits enable a sterile environment in the operating room, which is critical to minimizing exposure to bacterial contamination for patients and medical professionals.
The addition of DMS Chile will allow us to combine local know-how with 3Ms international expertise in infection prevention to deliver a wide range of value-added products to health professionals in Latin America, said Chuck Kummeth, division vice president, 3M Medical Division. Expanding our portfolio in this manner is directly aligned to our goal of continuing to be a leading and innovative partner with our health professionals, added Fred Schiller, managing director, 3M Chile.
