The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) seeks industry experts, government employees or education professionals looking to teach others about quality systems (QS) and associated regulations for AAMI University.
Until Nov. 14, interested professionals can apply for the next Train-the-Trainer program, scheduled for March 2-3, 2015, in Arlington, Va. Below, four instructors-Tammy Pelnik, president of The St. Vrain Group, Art Ward, president of AJW Technical Consultants, Jack Ward, owner of Ward Sciences and Consulting, LLC, and Kathleen McCubbin, a consultant at McCubbin Training, detail what criteria they consider when evaluating applicants.
What are you looking for in terms of expertise?
We are looking for subject matter experts who are interested in helping the medical device industry gain a better understanding of the U.S. FDA’s QS or Quality System regulation and related standards. In particular, we are looking at growing our faculty teams for our “Quality System Requirements and Industry Practice” and “Design Control Requirements and Industry Practice” courses.
How can people get involved?
Medical device professionals can review the eligibility requirements and determine whether they or someone they know would be interested in applying to the program.
How do you choose the trainers?
There are eligibility requirements, including professional experience, industry knowledge, prior attendance of an AAMI training program, and availability to teach. AAMI’s Faculty Review Panel will review your application, and if it is determined that you meet the eligibility requirements, you will be invited to register for the train-the-trainer session next March. Upon successful completion of the session, you will be invited to serve with experienced faculty at an AAMI University course scheduled in 2015.
