The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) today announced the launch of APIC Consulting Services, Inc. (ACSI), a full-service consulting company specializing in infection prevention and control. A wholly owned, for-profit subsidiary of APIC, ACSI will work with acute, ambulatory and long-term care facilities, hospital systems, insurance companies and government organizations to advance infection prevention.
“ACSI was developed as a way to help healthcare facilities and other entities responsible for infection prevention solve their largest and most urgent issues,” said ACSI CEO Kathy L. Warye. “Our international network of leading infection preventionists allows us to quickly mobilize the expertise necessary to tackle an array of issues.”
ACSI’s three primary lines of business include development of programs to reduce multi-drug resistant organisms (e.g., MRSA, C. difficile), outbreak recovery and preparation for state and federal regulatory compliance and accreditation. ACSI consultants have experience in all aspects of infection prevention and control, from emerging pathogens to surveillance technology assessment to construction issues.
APIC’s extensive library of infection prevention resources, including the evidence-based elimination guides for MRSA, C. difficile and catheter-related bloodstream infections, forms the basis of ACSI’s consulting practice. APIC materials are rooted in science-based best practices, developed in consensus with leading infection preventionists and CDC input.
“The need has never been greater for healthcare institutions to reduce HAIs,” said Warye. “As the global leader in infection prevention, APIC is uniquely positioned to offer critical expertise that will not only help facilities reduce infections, but also improve the bottom line.”
