Monetary Awards Available
KEENE, NH-The Sharps Safety Best Ideas Awards Initiative encourages healthcare professionals to share their ideas with their peers. Founded by SIMS Portex Inc., the program will award monetary prizes totaling $10,000 for the sharps safety practices judged most effective. In addition, the winning and other notable entries will be published and distributed industry-wide. Participants can enter the competition by submitting a description of how they improve sharps safety in their work environment in one or more of the following areas: safety system implementation, work place controls, innovation education, behavior modification, training and development. A kit containing an entry form, guidelines for preparing the entry, a poster, and a card for acquiring additional kits can be obtained by calling the Best Practices Coordinator at (201) 557-1222.
A panel of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) members will review and judge the entries.
