The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) will hold a free online demonstration of its benchmarking program for sterile processing departments on Monday, June 17, at 2 p.m. EST. The web event is open to all interested parties.
The program, called Benchmarking SolutionsSterile Processing, is designed to help departments compare their sterilization practices, financial and personnel needs, and operational policies with departments at other facilities. To register, CLICK HERE by Friday, May 31.
The demo follows on the heels of the announcement of a new partnership between AAMI and the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) designed to enhance and promote the web-based benchmarking resource.
AAMI launched the benchmarking program nearly two years ago. By collaborating with IAHCSMM, the program promises to be an even more effective and robust tool, as the two organizations have a combined membership of more than 26,000.The combination will help attract more subscribers and generate more useful benchmarking data.
The resource features more than 130 benchmarking and best practice measurements. It displays data in an easy-to-read percentile format and offers charts and graphs to show results.
Developed by leading sterile processing experts, the benchmarking survey examines critical elements of a sterile processing program, such as:
- Budgeting and financial issues
- Sterilization practices
- Regulatory and standards compliance
- Volume and types of work performed
- Clinical relationships
- Best practices and performance improvement
- Responsibilities and reporting structures
- Staffing, qualifications and continuing education
Benchmarking SolutionsSterile Processing was created in collaboration with software developer Dynamic Benchmarking.
Members of AAMI or IAHCSMM will receive special discounts on annual subscriptions to the benchmarking program. Individuals can take advantage of those discounts by visiting the AAMI Store or calling 877-249-8226.
