The board of directors of the Healthcare Laundry Accreditation (HLAC) has voted John Scherberger BS, CHESP, REH, as vice president. In January 2016, Scherberger will assume the duties of board president of HLAC, a nonprofit organization formed for the purpose of inspecting and accrediting laundries processing healthcare textiles for hospitals, nursing homes and other healthcare facilities.
Scherberger currently serves as a director on HLAC's board and is a member of its executive committee.
"We've benefitted greatly from having John on our board and we're certainly looking forward to his leadership as board president," says Gregory Gicewicz, current board president. "John is a familiar presence among healthcare professionals who have come to depend on him for his knowledge and expertise on wide-ranging matters to our industry."
Scherberger is the founder and owner of Healthcare Risk Mitigation, a consulting firm whose purpose is to assist healthcare and hospitality professionals in mitigating risks in their business environment with particular emphasis on reducing healthcare- and community-acquired infections through education, training, and process development.
"I look forward to continuing to promote the benefits of HLAC Accreditation, our nationally recognized process-based standards document that covers the complete textile processing cycle, our extensive inspection process, and the role we play in patient safety," Scherberger says.
