New CDC Interim Director is Named

CNN is reporting that Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)' acting secretary Charles E. Johnson has appointed Dr. Richard Besser as interim director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). William Gimson, who was named interim CDC director on Jan. 20 when former director Julie Gerberding, MD, MPH, resigned, will return to his position as the CDC's chief operating officer.
