The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) will hold a webinar on "Rigid Sterilization Containers: Best Practices," on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. EST. The speaker is Martha L. Young, BS, MS, CSPDT.
Rigid sterilization containers are recommended for use in immediate-use steam sterilization by the Joint Commission and AORN. They are also used frequently in sterile processing. This webinar will discuss the AAMI recommended practices related to the use of rigid sterilization containers and the importance of following the manufacturers instructions for use. The speaker will also discuss the difference between validation and verification and why you cannot repackage instruments purchased with their own containment system into generic rigid containers without validated instructions for use.     Â
Â
The program will:
1. Describe the best practices for cleaning, inspecting, packaging, preparation, loading, unloading, reasons for sterilization process failure, storage, and transportation of medical devices using rigid sterilization containers.
2. Describe the AAMI prepurchase evaluation of rigid sterilization containers.
3. Discuss the difference between validation and verification and how that relates to the use of rigid sterilization containers.
Â
The fee is $79 per registration for AAMI members and $99 per registration for non-members.Â
