The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) will offer a webinar on "Under the Spotlight: Is Your Facility Prepared for a Sterile Processing Accreditation Survey?" on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. EST. The speaker is Rose E. Seavey, RN, MBA, CNOR, CRCST, CSPDT, president/CEO of Seavey Healthcare Consulting LLC.Â
Accreditation is a means of peer review by professionals and is a universally accepted means of enhancing the quality of healthcare. Reprocessing of reusable medical devices and sterile processing (SP) areas are becoming an increasingly larger focus of accreditation survey processes.
Â
SP areas differ in their physical design, location, equipment, and in the level of personnel expertise, competence and training. This webinar will explore the Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and other accrediting organizations requirements related to SP in any setting such as sterile processing departments, operating rooms, GI labs, ambulatory surgery centers, office-based procedure areas, and dental clinics. The webinar will focus specifically on SP standards and evidence-based guidelines, survey preparation and risk-reduction tools. The speaker will share how the audience can get access to a valuable Sterile Processing Best Practices Audit Tool to help them prepare and maintain readiness for an accreditation survey.   Â
Â
The program will:
1. Discuss the latest requirements from accrediting organizations specifically relating to reprocessing of medical devices.
2. Describe key published standards and recommended practices for safe and effective reprocessing of reusable patient care items.
3. Identify current resources available to help healthcare facilities prepare for a successful accreditation survey. Â
Â
The fee is $79 per registration for AAMI members and $99 per registration for non-members. Each paid registration entitles the participant to one telephone connection and one computer connection at one physical location. Participants have permission to make copies of the written materials for anyone else at their location who might be listening to the program. Any transmission, retransmission, or republishing of the audio or web portion of this program is strictly prohibited. International registrants may incur additional phone charges.
