AAMI Offers Webinar on Disposable Leadwires

Article

The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) will offer the webinar, "Disposable Leadwires: What I Need to Know and Why I Need to Care" on Dec. 18, 2014 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. EST. This webinar will focus on the use and implementation of disposable leadwires. Join this webinar as it discusses the pitfalls and challenges that can arise when using disposable leadwires and how standardizing leadwires can simplify patient transfers and reduce usage costs.

Reusable leadwires work the same way, no matter what brand monitor is used, because the leadwires stay in the room when a patient is transferred. However, disposable leadwires are disconnected, either at the patient cable or at the monitor, and travel with the patient, requiring that same set of leadwires to connect to the patient monitor in the next location. This patient transfer presents a unique set of challenges that are not always obvious and drives the need for leadwire and clinical practice standardization. Leadwire standardization is key for a successful disposable implementation. If done well, it can improve the patient experience and productivity.

This webinar will focus on the use and implementation of disposable leadwires. Join this webinar as it discusses the pitfalls and challenges that can arise when using disposable leadwires and how standardizing leadwires can simplify patient transfers and reduce usage costs.

After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Recognize how implementing disposable leadwires can impact clinical practice
- Analyze the various standardization methods and their effect on ease of use and cost
- Describe how to standardize a facility to use disposable leadwires

The speaker will be Jeff Wiser, technical service engineer in the Infection-Prevention Division of 3M. Instruction is targeted to nurses, clinical engineers, healthcare technology managers, and materials managers.

Registration fees are $79 per registration for AAMI members and $99 per registration for non-members. To register, CLICK HERE.
