A recent report by the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) describes current state efforts and state health agency resources to develop or enhance stewardship policies and activities as they work toward an overall strategy for combating antibiotic resistance. Combating Antibiotic Resistance: Policies to Promote Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs presents the results of a survey of healthcare-associated infections coordinators, findings from three state capacity building projects addressing policy barriers, and recommendations, tools, and examples for states.
